OVER THE RIVER AND THROUGH THE WOODS

The ride to Sycamore Shore is lovely and peaceful and accentuates the fact that you are removed from the big city. That really is an overstatement for you are only 15 minutes away from shopping and restaurants. Here are several photos taken along the drive down Benny's Beach Road and Old Dam Road.

DIRECTIONS TO SYCAMORE SHORE

From Route 66 take Exit 6 and go towards Winchester on Rt 522/340 - That’s a right hand turn from the ramp at the light.

You are headed toward Winchester and go maybe ¼ of a mile. Past Riverton shopping mall on your right.

Keep straight on 522/340 for another ½ mile. Turn right onto Rockland Road. NOTE: every turn from here on out will be a right turn!

Past Factory on left. Go over the railroad tracks and around major bend in the road for a total of about 1 mile.

At this point road branches and Rockland continues to the left and Benny’s Beach Rd is to the right. There’s a big yellow sign with arrow telling you to go left. DO NOT. You want to go right with Benny’s Beach past our bank of mail boxes. You have approximately 2 miles to go.

At the bottom of the hill you will turn right onto a little low water bridge and follow the river. FYI All but one house is either being renovated or has just been upgraded.

Because you are on a one lane road, beware of on-coming cars. There are little pull offs. Sometimes you need to pull off, and sometimes the other guy needs to pull off. It becomes second nature.

Go about a mile following the river. Road branches again with Benny’s Beach going to the left and Old Dam Road going to the right. Go slow around the curve on Old Dam Road in case someone is coming the other way.

You will go up a big hill and down the other side.

Eventually you come smack into the river again. Beckwith is to the left and Old Dam is to the right. Take a right turn and follow for about 1/5 of a mile.

You will see 646 Old Dam Road in a few seconds.

You may park in the driveway, boat launch or go past the house and park in the parking lot.

Come up to the 2nd floor large deck and enter through the sliding glass door.
